Kenneth J. Wimer, Sr. MSGT (RET) USAF, 71 of Hahira died on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at his residence. He was born in 1936 to the late Frank James and Helen Gertrude Bower Wimer in New Castle, PA. Mr. Wimer was a member of the Ousley Baptist Church and had served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years and was a Star-Boy Scout. He was named as one of the Jaycees Outstanding Men of 1971 and was a mason. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force he worked for Tom’s Candies for 15 years and Target for 10 years. He was an avid Braves fan and loved to work in his flower garden.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carol Wimer of Hahira, daughter and son in law, Darli and James DeVane of Valdosta, three sons and two daughters in law, Kenneth, Jr. and Debbie Wimer of Oklahoma City, OK., Richard L. Wimer of Santa Clara, Calif., Robert and Traci Wimer of Hahira, 19-grandchildren, 17-great grandchildren, one sister, Phyllis Chantermerle of Hermitage, PA., brother and sister in law, Darrell and June Wimer of St. George , Utah, several nieces and nephews, brother in law and sisters in law, Thomas and June Simpson of Valdosta, Jewell Martin of Valdosta and Vicki Starling of Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, April 17, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Stokes and Mr. Ken Wimer Jr. officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
