Kenneth J. Taw, 54, of Valdosta died Friday, August 15, 2008 at his home. He was born in Freeport, New York on June 13, 1954 to Stella Presti Taw and the late James F. Taw, Jr. and had lived in Valdosta since 1976. Mr. Taw was a graduate of Clemson University and a retired teacher with the Valdosta City School System. He was currently teaching part-time at the Valdosta Correctional Facility. Mr. Taw loved his cats, refinishing wood, woodworking and crossword puzzles. He loved television, traveling, music and computers.

Survivors include his wife, Venice Minton Taw, his mother, Stella M. Taw, brother and sister in law, Jimmy and Brenda Taw, niece, Shannon Taw Zapf, great niece, Carsen Zapf, sister in law and brother in law, Ellen and Keith Blythe, nephew, Stephen Blythe all of Valdosta, uncle and aunt, Dr. Matthew and Helen Presti of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Taw, Sr., his grandparents, Sam and Marie Presti and James, Sr. and Linda Taw.

Memorial services will be held at 5pm, Monday, August 18, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Ronald Carter, Alfred Hiers and Tommy McNeal officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In keeping with Mr. Taw's request his body will be donated to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta for research. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lake Park Area Animal Rescue, P. O. Box 925, Lake Park, GA 31636 or to the charity of your choice. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
