Kenneth Joseph Hotcaveg

Valdosta, GA

Kenneth Joseph Hotcaveg, 83, of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on February 13th, 2025. Born on July 12th, 1941 in Chicago, IL. His family moved to Pharr, Texas in 1946 where he attended PSJA High School and played football and baseball. He then attended Pan American college where he played baseball and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He obtained a degree in accounting at Pan American college. In 1964, he joined the United States Air Force and also married the love of his life, Carole Lee Guenther. For the next 20 years they lived in various locations and Ken obtained a Master of Science in Logistics Management Degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology. During this time Ken coached many youth league baseball teams at all levels as well as a church league softball team. Ken was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Valdosta, Georgia since 1979 and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 45 years.

He is preceded in death by his father, Hank and mother, Jean Hotcaveg as well as his brother Howard, sister-in-law, Mary, and his brother Leonard. He is survived by his wife, Carole Lee Hotcaveg, his sister-in-law, Vivian Hotcaveg, his son Michael Hotcaveg of Bogart, GA, and his daughter, Angela Hotcaveg McDonald (Andy) of Stuart, FL. His grandchildren include Lydia McDonald of West Palm Beach, FL, Morgan McDonald of Yulee, FL, Michael Hotcaveg of Bogart, GA, Mary Catherine Hotcaveg of Bogart, GA and Matthew Hotcaveg of Bogart, GA.

A special thank you to Don and Joyce Teter and Rosemary and Ron Mathis for their special care during his time of illness.

A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at St. John Catholic Church. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. A Rosary will be held at 6pm and visitation will follow from 6:30-8pm on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
