Kenneth Cecil Clayton

April 7, 1914 — August 9, 2005

Kenneth Cecil Clayton of Lake Park passed away on August 9, 2005 at his residence. Born on April 7, 1914 in Echols County, he was the son of the late Judge William Douglas Clayton and Emma Herring Clayton. He retired from Napa Automotive as a bookkeeper. A former member of Forrest Street United
Methodist Church, he taught the Adult Sunday School Class for many years and was Church Treasurer for 18 years. He later moved his membership to Lake Park United Methodist Church. He was loved by all who knew him. As a teenager he wrote many poems, songs and short stories of which one will be read at his funeral.

Survivors are his wife, Nona Colson Clayton of Lake Park and would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on August 25th; two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen Aubie of Valdosta, Carol and John Gavin of Lake Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Trish Clayton of Lake Park; four granddaughters, Dana Gavin, Tina Hamilton, Michelle (Dwayne) Culpepper, Suzanne (Richard) Harvey; great grandchildren, Celeste Gaskins, Austin Hamilton, Dustin Hamilton, Bryceson Harvey, Ethan Harvey; four sisters, Iona Daughtary, Evelyn Prine both of Statenville, Ruth Dykeman of Valdosta, Annie Lee of Tampa and a large number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon Clayton, Wilma Clayton, Ernie Clayton and A. B. Clayton and one sister, Judith Guy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park. Reverend Michael P. Lyons and Reverend Elvin East will officiate. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time.
