His mind is at ease, his soul is at rest. Our dearly beloved father, Keith Burnett, who taught us many lessons in life, has passed over at the age of 93 on Sunday, August 19th, 2018, at the Fellowship Home in Valdosta Ga. He was born to the late James C. Burnett and Dorothy Burnett on May 19th 1925, at Lakewood NJ. He and his 2 brothers and sister had the joy of growing up in many parts of the world, but his fondest memories of childhood took place in San Diego Ca. Keith honorably served in the US Navy from 14 July 1942 to 30 July 1962, and his duties as Radioman First Class aboard the USS Montpelier in the Pacific Theatre during WWII earned him a Navy Unit Commendation medal for meritorious service during the battle of the Soloman Islands in 1943. After a distinguished military career Mr. Burnett served an additional 20 years in government civil service. He retired with his wife Margaret in 1982 and moved to beautiful Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, FL where they would spend 30 wonderful years of enjoyment and happiness with family and friends in their beachfront home.
He is survived by five children. Margaret A Witt of Charlottesville, VA., Sarah L Molina (Vernon Molina) of Scotts Valley, CA., Michelle G Selman of Albany, GA., Michael T Burnett of Fort Walton Beach, FL. and Robert M Burnett (Debby Burnett) of Valdosta, GA., and brother Mike Burnett of Prescott AZ. He also leaves behind, 20 Grandchildren, and 33 Great Grandchildren. (Genesis 1:28, “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it”… and so they did!)
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Margaret Rose Burnett, his two sons, Keith Burnett Jr. of Eureka Ca, and James C Burnett of Albany GA, sister Dorothy Foxworth of Escondido CA, and brother James Burnett of Carlsbad, CA
A special thanks to the Fellowship Home in Valdosta, GA. for their care and comfort over the past four years.
Keith and Margaret’s wishes were to spend eternity together with their ashes scattered on the seas near their home. A family service is being planned in Fort Walton Beach Fl, for a date to be determined.
