Keagan H. Kung-Korte, 17, of Nashville, Georgia, passed away suddenly following a car accident on October 12, 2020. Keagan came into this world as a fighter. He was born in Tampa, Florida, on April 18, 2003, at St. Joseph’s Hospital weighing four pounds flat. This miracle child grew into a smart, kind, and humorous young man, who treated everyone he met with love and respect. During his time on Earth, Keagan was a world traveler and experienced many different places and cultures. He lived in Lutz, FL; San Antonio, TX; and Tuscon, AZ, and traveled with his family to Hawaii, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and China. In summer 2014 he attended Space Camp in Huntsville, AL for a week-long program, and in 2018 he participated in a month-long ecological project in China for an international study abroad program. He always warmly welcomed his family’s foreign exchange students as if they were his own siblings during their stay. Keagan was a dual-enrollment student at Valdosta State University (VSU) and Berrien County High School. Even though he was only a high school senior, he was already in his second year of successfully taking a full-time schedule of college courses. He was an excellent, inquisitive student looking forward to possibly studying psychology or engineering in the future. Prior to attending Berrien County High School and VSU, Keagan studied at Valwood Preparatory School in Hahira for four years. While at Valwood, Keagan was a member of the Science Olympiad, chess club, baseball, cross-country, and basketball teams, and was Valwood’s first varsity swim team member in history. Keagan was also a founding, talented and competitive member of Valdosta Aquatics Swim Team, where he contributed significantly in numerous meets over the last several years. Keagan was an open-minded and independent young man who loved his family and pets. He enjoyed reading all genres of books, playing video games and Dungeons & Dragons, binge watching TV shows, talking to and hanging out with his friends, singing in and out of the shower, helping others, and traveling. Keagan was a humble young man who always made sure people knew he loved them before parting ways. Keagan’s kindness, humor, easygoing manner, sparkling eyes, and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Joan Kung. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Rebecca (Bex) Kung-Korte of Nashville, Georgia; grandfather, Luke Kung M.D. of Port St. Lucie, Florida; grandparents, Donald and Judy Korte of Brandon, Florida; uncles, Gregory Korte of Nashville, Tennessee, and Josh Erdman of Raleigh, North Carolina and many, many friends across the globe.
