Katie Louise Dawkins Jernigan

December 15, 1922 — March 3, 2005

Katie Louise Moore Dawkins Jernigan, 82, of Knoxville, Tennessee and formerly of Valdosta, Georgia, died on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on December 15, 1922 in Lanier County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late E. J. and Katie Moore. She was a homemaker and member of Karns Church of Christ.

Survivors are her husband, Tom Jernigan of Knoxville, Tennessee; son and daughter in law, Wayne and Gail Dawkins of Valdosta, daughters and sons in law, Gail Copeland of Knoxville, Tennessee, Pam and Paul Kinsey, Sandra and Tom Daughtrey all of Valdosta; and son, Gary Jernigan of Knoxville, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Arnita Burch of Statenville, Georgia, Doris McMillan of Baxley, Georgia; brothers, E. J. Moore, Jr. of Valdosta, Kenneth Moore of Statenville, Georgia; and Jerry and Louise Fulford who she loved as a son and daughter. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Curtis Dawkins, brother, Jack Moore and son in law, Randall Copeland.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Edwin Jones, Minister of Karns Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
