Kathy Butts

Kathy Butts, 52, of Lake Park, died on Friday, April 4, 2008 after a short illness. Born in Valdosta on January 3, 1956, as a child she and her family moved to Thomasville for several years. She moved back to the Valdosta area twenty-two years ago. Mrs. Butts loved cross-stitch and needlepoint. She loved looking for and collecting antiques, she loved reading and spending time with grandchildren, family and friends. She had a great love for her yard and working in her flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Dwayne Butts of Lake Park; two daughters and a son in law, April Hurst of Thomasville and Paula & Timothy Nicholson if Lafayette, IN; a son Dee Hurst of Albany; five grandchildren, Aalyia Nicholson of Lafayette, IN, Caleb Hurst of Lake Park, Garrett Hurst of Thomasville, Aylssa Nicholson and Nathan Nicholson, both of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are her father and stepmother, James E. & Nadine Blanton of Quitman; a brother Mike Blanton of Valdosta; three sisters and three brothers in law, Martha & Donald B. Stringer of Shell Point, FL, Pam & Frankie Brannen of Lake Park, and Alice & Chris Pierce of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Butts is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Stowell and a beloved grandmother, Estell Blanton.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Lake Park Cemetery in Lake Park. Rev. Eldridge Lyons will officiate. The family will receive friends at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park on Monday morning prior to the service from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
