Kathleen Wade Patterson

Kathleen Wade Patterson, 86, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, July 1, 2010. Born in Oklahoma City to the late Malcolm Bryan Henry and Edna Madden Henry, she had lived in this area for the past 57 years. Mrs. Patterson grew up in Oklahoma where she loved to go fishing with her Dad and was a real 'tomboy'. She studied at the University of Oklahoma as a voice major and during this time she competed in and won several beauty contests. Kathleen truly loved singing and was involved in choirs all of her life. She was an original member of the Singing Americans and a member of the Valdosta Choral Guild. For 25 years, Mrs. Patterson worked as a realtor here in Valdosta and is also a past president of both the Garden Club and the Medical Auxiliary and was an avid Bridge player. She was a five time chairman of the Lowndes County Republicans, a member of the Valdosta Junior Service League and a member and choir member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, John Patterson, of Valdosta; two daughters, Susan Wade Stewart of Valdosta, and Cynthia Wade Brett of Cullowhee, NC; a step-daughter and her husband, Carol & John Meier of Deland, FL; a granddaughter and her husband, Nikki & Shawn Sweat of Valdosta and two great grandchildren, Zadie & Charlie Sweat of Valdosta. She is preceded in death by her son, Richard Wade.

Funeral services for Mrs. Patterson will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Long will officiate. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening July 5, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Break Bread Together Ministry, c/o First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta, P.O.
