Kathleen Blanton “K.T.” Thompson, 85, died on Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a short illness. Born in Lowndes County on July 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late H.A. and Rena Smith Blanton. Mrs. Thompson had worked with Dowling Bag Co. for many years. She was also a personal care sitter and loved flowers and gardening.
Survivors are her sons and daughters in law, James M. and Wanda Thompson, Melvin H. and Patsy Thompson of Valdosta; sisters and a brother in law, Lois Ellis, Anna and Paul White of Valdosta; brothers and sisters in law, Melvin Blanton, Arthur and Frances Blanton, Hayvard and Janine Blanton, Claude and Mary Blanton all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Christie and Michael Corbin, Dana and Patrick DuGuid of Quitman, James (Mark) and Karen Thompson of North Carolina, Bridget Thompson Martin of Valdosta, Andrew Thompson of Valdosta, Sean Thompson of Thomasville, Melissa Thompson of Cairo; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Thompson, Sr., a son, James E. Thompson, Jr., brothers, L.A. Blanton, Albert Blanton, and a sister, Zelphia Rentz.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Jim Schappaugh will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
