Katherine Sims Hunter

Katherine Sims Hunter, age 60, of Lake Park, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL, surrounded by her family, after losing her battle with cancer.

She was born in Lowndes County on December 2, 1950 and was the daughter of Thomas and Katherine Sims. She is survived by her daughter, Tari Leigh (Edward) Kinateder of Portland, OR; her mother, Katherine Sims of Valdosta; her brother, Fred (Terri) Sims of Key West, FL; two nieces, Shellie (Scott) Perdigon of Miami, FL, and Jessica Sims of Key West, FL; one nephew, Carter (Riella) Sims of Key West, FL; and four great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, with Mr. J.C. McMullen officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers a donation to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave., Albany, GA 31701.
