Katherine Paulk Mcallister

Katherine Paulk McAllister, 86, of Valdosta died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her home. She was born on August 30, 1927 in Willacoochee, Georgia to the late Albert Robert and Cora Young Paulk. She attended Berry College and graduated from Valdosta State College. Katherine was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church and retired from the Valdosta School System. She taught fourth and fifth grade at Sallas Mahone and Special Education at West Gordon. She was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Valdosta Touchdown Club. Katherine enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband, singing and playing the piano, and loving on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Guy McAllister, Valdosta, GA; her sister, Georgia Elaine Paulk, Willacoochee, GA; her son, Vic Ledbetter (Connie) and her daughter, Cindee Hiers (Terry) all of Valdosta, GA; son, Guy and (Brenda) McAllister of Tifton, GA; daughter, Lynne (Gary) Brown, Waycross, GA; son, Glenn (Kathy) McAllister, Douglas, GA; daughter, Alicia (Jeff) Alderman, Waycross, GA; and son, Jim (Leslie) McAllister, Valdosta, GA; 13 grandchildren, Vickie (Philip) Everitte, Tucson, AZ; Christy Cater, Heather (Matt) Dorsey, Lindsey (Kevin) Moore all of Valdosta, GA; Amy (Scott) Wilke, Blackshear, GA; Rebecca (Robbie) Crosby, Amelia Island, FL; Hannah McAllister, Atlanta, GA; David McAllister, Hilton Head, SC; Zach (Milly) Roberson, Waycross, GA; Raleigh McAllister, Jacksonville, FL; Rachel (Zac) Suttles, Savannah, GA; Brooke McAllister and Crane McAllister, Valdosta, GA; Nine great-grandchildren Thomas Everitte, Ashlee and Austin Cater, Jake and Addyson Dorsey, Sawyer Moore, Cheyenne Howard, Caleb Bryars and Sebastian Roberson. A loving niece, Amelia Carter Tucker, sister in laws, Joyce Paulk and Katie Sue Paulk Middleton and many nieces and nephews. Two very special Willacoochee childhood friends, Daughtrey Paulk and Jo Carol Rouse. The most wonderful, loving and caring caretakers and friends, Ella Huggie (Comfort Keepers) and Vinnie Jones. A neighborhood of dear friends whom she cherished and her cat, Tabby, who gave her much joy.
She is preceded in death by her brothers; Loy Paulk, Verlie Paulk, Leslie Paulk, Julius Paulk, DuBijon Paulk, Robert Paulk, and Albert Jr. Paulk, and grandson, Taylor Roberson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Park Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. V. L. Daughtery and Rev. David Tart officiating, Family interment services will be held immediately following the service at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
