Katherine Mixson Campagna, 80 died Thursday, October 16, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Valdosta on December 2, 1933 to the late Edward Harrison (Dr. Harry) Mixson, M.D. and Katherine Zeane Oglesby Mixson. Mrs. Campagna was a Catholic and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She founded the Valdosta Kennel Club and served as the first president.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Campagna of St. George Island, , three sons and daughters in law, James H. Campagna, M.D. and Nancy Campagna of Moultrie, Harrison M. Campagna and Margaret Campagna, Thomas Kennedy Campagna and Elizabeth Campagna all of Woodstock; her sister and brother in law, Juanita Cox, PhD and James Cox, PhD.; her grandchildren, Catherine Rouse and her husband, Charner Rouse of Moultrie, Joshua Campagna and Natalie of Valdosta, Micaela Campagna, Avery Campagna, Lawson Campagna, Michael Campagna and Emily Campagna all of Woodstock; seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with David Lassiter officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
