Karen Courson Campbell, age 60, died on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at her home in Jennings, FL. Born in Jacksonville, FL to the late George W. & Ethel Lavonia Andrews Courson, she moved to this area at a young age and had been a lifelong resident. Karen worked for many years in the area of men's clothing, having worked at S&K Men's Clothiers and at Johnston & Murphy Shoes. She also loved sewing and fishing with close family and friends. Karen was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jennings.
Survivors include her husband Charles Campbell of Jennings, FL; three children and one spouse, Jennifer Lynn Dixon, of Atlanta, Shona Gail Lowe of Hahira, and Mandy Ellen Wood of Lake Park; four grandchildren, Emilie Simpson, Brady Wilson, both of Hahira, Kailey Wood and Karsyn Wood, both of Lake Park. Also surviving are two sisters and brothers in law, Georgia Gail & David Heruska of Lake Park, Candy & Craig Hendrix of Utah; three brothers and two sisters in law, Eddie Allen of Valdosta, Jerry Courson of Biloxi, MS, David and Diana Courson of Lake City, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Gavin Luke Wood and sister in law, Jean Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dasher Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Cordero, Pastor Spencer Corbett and Pastor Charles Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 – 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Haven Hospice of Lake City.
