Karen Anne Gunter, 57, of Hahira died Sunday, January 22, 2023. She was born on September 7, 1965 in San Antonio, TX to Aaron Eugene Parten and the late Josephine Ella Wood Parten. Karen loved to help people. She was a retired Special Education teacher at Lowndes High School. She truly loved her students. She was a talented cook and passed her passion on to her students. Karen also loved to rescue animals and started “Paws & Claws” club at Lowndes High School. She was a founding member of St. Francis Ministry for animals at her church, Christ Episcopal. Karen enjoyed playing flute in the St. Francis Choir.
She is predeceased by her husband, Philip Lee Gunter and her mother and is survived by her father, Aaron E. Parten of Hahira, sister, Eleanor Parten of Hahira, nephew, Matthew Barnes of Decatur and Hahira, Aunts, Isabella Britteon of Humberston, UK, Hazel Richardson of Grimsby, UK, Uncles, William R. Parten (Catherine) of Ailey, GA and Michael E. Parten (Diane) of Moultrie and many loving cousins.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at two p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with The Reverend Walter Hobgood officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Urn Garden.
