Justin Chase Grice

Justin Chase Grice, 21, of Valdosta, died suddenly on Sunday, July 20, 2014. Born in Valdosta on October 11, 1992, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Chase attended Lowndes High School and had graduated from Avner Bush Academy in Cumming, GA. Previously, he had worked at the Valdosta- Lowndes County Food Bank and currently he was working at Lenox River Ranch. Chase held a great love for his family and was very loyal to and supportive of his friends. During high school, he was active in 4-H raising and showing hogs, but Chase loved all animals and enjoyed caring for them. He also loved the beach, going to Daytona and going scalloping. Chase had a passion for cooking, having cooked for many others while working at the food bank and had hoped to become a skilled chef one day. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his father and step-mother Dale & Elaine Douglas Grice and his mother and step father, Jodie & Jesse Andrade, all of Valdosta; two sisters and a brother in law, Brittany & Danny Howell of Washington State, and Carelee Douglas of Valdosta; two step brothers Derrick Cook of Griffin and Brian Cook of Alpharetta; his two grandfathers, Floyd R. Grice of Valdosta and William Dupree of Dunwoody. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Joy & Bud Bassford, Lupee Andrade, Maria Andrade and Louie Dupree, all of Valdosta; a niece and nephew, Austin Howell and Jackson Howell, both of Washington State; and three cousins, Trey Bassford, Mark Bassford and Brett Bassford, all of Valdosta. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Faye Marie Hagan Grice and his great grandmother Frances Dupree and an aunt, Cheryl Dupree.

A funeral service for Chase will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Michael will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or Recovery Outfitters RO Fund, 564 Peachtree Parkway, Cumming, GA 30041.
