Judy Kay Sapp Cofield (Mimi), 64, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 7, 1951 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late John Henry and Kathryn Everett Sapp and has been a Valdosta resident her whole life. She was a homemaker and attended Crosspointe Church. Mimi's heart and soul was devoted to her family and was protective of her children and her grandchildren. She had a kind and caring heart for people and devoted herself to helping those in need. Mimi volunteered many hours to the Lowndes County School System and she loved to hunt, fish, and go to the beach.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Austin (Pete) Cofield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Sissy Cofield and Mark and Lora Cofield; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Chip Keene all of Valdosta; her grandchildren and their spouses, Catie Cofield, John Cofield, Katie and Raliegh Kinsey, Kody and Alexi Smith, Wayne Smith, Richard and Megan Barkley, Kaitlyn Barkley, Stella Cofield, McKenzie Keene, Caleb Keene, and Megan Keene; three great-grandchildren, Mileigh Kinsey, Kendra Davis, and Nekoda Smith; one brother, Curtis Sapp of Valdosta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Dale Cofield of Valdosta, Jerry and Robin Cofield of Lake Park, Bill and Glenda Cofield of Naylor, and Larry and Vicki Cofield of Valdosta; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat and Steve Peacock of Moultrie, and Linda and Wallace Montgomery of Tifton; special friends, Revis and Patsy Casteen of Valdosta, Faye House of Macon, Kaye Stalvey of Hahira, and Betty Layfield of Milledgeville; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Rewis; a brother, Bobby Sapp, and her grandparents, Sam and Stella Everett. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to the staff of the Pearlman Cancer Center and to Hospice of South Georgia for the care and dedication shown to Mimi and the rest of the family.
Services for Judy Kay Sapp Cofield (Mimi) will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
