Judith Ellison Folsom, 79, of Valdosta died Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Fellowship Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Rahway, New Jersey on September 16, 1940 to the late Benjamin F., Jr. and Virginia Sanborn Ellison and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Folsom was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for more than forty years and a member of the Valdosta Choral Guild. She graduated in 1958 from Valdosta High School and a member of the Valdosta High Marchin’ Cats Band and was an avid Florida Gator fan. Mrs. Folsom retired from Sears in 1999 after thirty five years as a sales associate. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and music was very important to her. The family would like to thank the staff of Fellowship Home for their love and care of Judy these past ten months.
Survivors include her husband, Grady Folsom of Valdosta; her brother and sister in law, Sandy and Brenda Ellison of Gainesville, FL; her son, James R. “Rusty” Lineberger of Jacksonville, AR., two daughters and sons in law, Jennifer (Susie) and David Belancsik of Johnson City, NY, Julie and Greg Protheroe of Chapin, SC; three granddaughters, two grandsons, one great grandson, one great granddaughter, two nieces; her stepdaughter and stepson in law, Deborah and Danny Hunnicutt of Valdosta; six step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepson, David Folsom.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, October 17, 2019 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Glenda Hollingshead officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10am-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Break Bread Program in c/o First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1094 Valdosta, GA 31603.
