Juanita (Nita) H. Folsom

Juanita (Nita) H. Folsom, 90, of Barney died Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Fellowship Home after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 26, 1931 in Ashburn, Georgia to the late Charlie D. and Alma Lee Ambrose Haralson and had lived in Brooks County for many years. Mrs. Folsom was an active member of Barney United Methodist Church for sixty six years where she taught Sunday School and active in the United Methodist Women. She graduated from Georgia State Woman’s College (Valdosta State University) with a degree in early childhood education. Mrs. Folsom taught school in the Brooks County School System for thirty years where she was named Teacher of the Year two times and loved seeing her former students in her retirement years and reminiscing about the good ole days. She was a member of the Barney Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was always busy sewing, gardening, playing cards, crafting and working in her rose garden or cooking a wonderful meal for her family. She loved cooking and passed that love down to her three daughters. Mrs. Folsom loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Charlene Folsom of Houston, TX, Stan and Debra Folsom of Barney, Deryl and Larry Green, Jenny and Bill McLendon all of Hahira; her grandchildren, Daphne Folsom, Deidre and Stephen Chadwick, Blake and Sarah Folsom, Erin and Nic Dodson, Lee and Shayla Green, Meredith McLendon, Cole McLendon, Grant McLendon; great grandchildren, Drew Dodson, Luke Dodson, Grace Dodson, Camden Chadwick, Lucas Chadwick, Anna Chadwick, Dixon Green; her sister and brother in law, Gaynell and G.B. Turk of Sandersville, GA; her sister in law, Gwen Haralson Blanchard of Ashburn, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years Roland Jerome Folsom and her brother, Lamar Haralson. The family would like to express their gratitude to the loving and caring staff of Fellowship Home and Hospice of South Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Barney United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9:30am till 11am at the church.
