JUANITA LOKEY COURSON, 75, of Hialeah, Fla died Friday, July 8, 2005 at her home. She was born on February 23, 1930 in Albany to Mary Hill Lokey and the late Felton M. Lokey and had lived in Lowndes County before moving to Hialeah many years ago. Mrs. Courson’s parents and six siblings located to Remerton where she worked for Strickland Cotton Mills where she met her beloved husband, Beauford Courson, a recent World War II veteran at that time and was married in 1947. After traveling to Chicago so Beauford could get training from GI Bill, they moved to Hialeah where they raised their three children. In Hialeah, Juanita worked as a punch press operator and advanced to stock room clerk and was promoted to Purchasing Agent for over thirteen years. Many times she held part-time jobs ranging from selling Avon to managing the skating rink snack bar so she could be with her children for recreation. She was a very high energy person who everyone knew as an outstanding cook and she loved to cook for those she loved. She and her husband, Beauford where married for fifty two years until his death in 1989. Her beloved son Jimmy passed away two years later. Since the first Lokey family reunion in 1971, Juanita traveled every year to the reunion in Valdosta never missing the event. As her driving became more difficult in 2004 she hitched a ride on her neighbors semi tractor trailer to get halfway to the reunion and between various family members she was shuttled the remainder of the way and she stayed in constant touch with her beloved family. Juanita continued to cherish living her home that was bought in 1949 with many fond memories.
