Joye G. Megow, 89, of Valdosta died Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Langdale Hospice House. She was born on June 23, 1923 in Winnipeg, Canada to the late George C. and Lillian McAllister DeBell and had lived in this area for many years. Mrs. Megow was a retired registered nurse and educator. She served a Cadet Nurse in the United States Navy and was a member of Southland Church. Mrs. Megow had taught high school health occupations and vocational school.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Susan Hoyt of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Thomas Robert and Denise Megow of Alabama, James G. and Dr. Kimberly Megow of Valdosta, ten grandchildren, Catherine Creamer, Matthew and Karen Henry Hoyt, Thad R. Megow, Robert Seth and Crissy Megow, Claren Rae Megow, Graham Megow, Lindsay Catherine Megow, Parker Wetherington Megow, Thomas James Megow and William Robert Megow, six great grandchildren, Jackson Henry Hoyt, Amelia Wren Hoyt, Stevie Joy Megow, Neela Grace Megow, Titus Robert Megow, Olive Hope Megow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. (Bob) Megow, son in law, Jeffrey Hoyt, grandson in law, Hobert Creamer, brother and sister in law, Charles and Marian DeBell of Winston- Salem, NC.
Funeral services were held at 1pm, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Randy Stephen officiating.
