Joye Beth Adkins, 82, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Savannah, GA on July 29, 1942, to the late Virgil and Hazel Crosby Bagley, and was a graduate of Valdosta High School class of 1960. She was a part-time instructor at Valdosta Technical College and was known for her typing skills. Mrs. Adkins had retired from South Georgia Regional Development Commission as an administrative assistant for community development. A longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and Charity Baptist, she sang Gospel music all over South Georgia. Mrs. Adkins loved to cook, hunt, fish, and her famous for her “Sweet Tea.”
Mrs. Adkins is survived by her daughter, Joye Morton (Kevin), of Valdosta, her daughter Renee Whitmer (Bob), of Quitman, GA, son, Herman Lee Adkins, Jr. (Michelle), of Quitman, GA; her grandchildren, Shannon Youmans (Ryan), of Dothan, AL, Justin Morton (Krista), of Sikeston, MO, Jaren Ewry (Danny), of Valdosta, Caleb Whitmer, of Quitman, GA, Andrew Whitmer, of Quitman, GA, Eric Stout (Catherine), of Tampa, FL, Ben Stout (Megan), of Kokomo, IN, Anna Feagle, of Valdosta, and Case Adkins, of Valdosta; her great grandchildren, Gavin Youmans, Lucas Morton, Tobias Morton, Elizabeth Ewry, Maggie Ewry, Marshall Ewry, Athena Whitmer, Billy Stout, Lizzie Stout, Lanie Stout, and Ahri Stout; as well as her best friend of many years, Marion Warner; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman L. Adkins, Sr., and granddaughter, Shelby Morton.
