Joyce Elaine Downing

Joyce Elaine Downing, 52, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Valdosta to the late Bobby and Jean Booth, she had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Downing had worked for over 10 years as a Quality Control Supervisor at the Dowling Bag Plant. She loved her family and going and doing many different activities prior to her declining health. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her son, Jeremy (& Stacy) Downing of Valdosta; a grandson, Sammy Downing of Valdosta; her sister in law, Jacqueline Downing Tustin of Valdosta; a sister and brother in law, Debra & Roger Keene of Valdosta; two brothers and a sister in law, Jimmy Booth of Valdosta and Randall & Barbara Booth, of Clyattville; a sister and brother in law, Beverly & Paul Reynolds of Savannah; a sister in law, Vanessa Causey of Valdosta and two special nieces Ivey Savannah Davis of Lakeland, and Robin (Kenneth) Keen; and several more nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband George A. (Tinker) Downing; a sister, Jeanette Browning; a brother, Johnny Booth; a brother in law, Donald Tustin and a grandson, Jeremy Allen Downing.

A memorial service for Mrs. Downing will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Keith Sandlin will officiate. Burial of the cremains will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
