Joyce Darlene Zipperer Rowland, age 59, passed away Saturday October 31, 2015 after a long and hard -fought battle with cancer at home in Callahan, Florida. She was born on March 8, 1956 in Valdosta, Georgia to Roy Malcolm and Oveda (North) Zipperer. Darlene was the former Miss Valdosta in 1974 and also a Miss Georgia contestant. In her younger years she was a singer and a member of the band Night Moves. Darlene retired after more than 25 years of service from Anheuser Busch Company. She had a love for beautiful cross stitch projects and spending much time with friends. Darlene leaves to cherish her memories, her brothers Hugh Zipperer (Beverly) and Alan Zipperer (Patricia); step mother Juanita Zipperer; step- sister Marcia Steinberg (David); half-sister Jane Sears; and her most dear and closest friend and "sister" of 33years, Helen Jinright; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. A celebration of Darlene's life will be 2:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Carson McLane Funeral Home, 2215 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602.
