Jowell Ruth Hilton

Jowell Thome Hilton, 88, of Hawkinsville and formerly of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at her home in Hawkinsville. She was born on June 23, 1936, in Atlanta to the late Lan and Lois Earington Thome. Mrs. Hilton had served as the church secretary for First Christian Church in Valdosta for over 40 years and she dedicated her-self to the work of the church. She not only served as the secretary, but performed a wide array of other tasks and responsibilities ensuring things that needed to be taken care of had been accomplished.

Mrs. Hilton is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald Francis Hilton, Jr., of Hahira, and Andrew Bruce Sr., and Penny Hilton of Hawkinsville, Georgia; grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew Bruce Jr., and Kristina Hilton of Tampa, Florida, Terry Morgan and Caylin Hilton of Alachua, Florida, Kelly and Heath Gooden of Nixa, Missouri, Andrea Hilton and Audrey Hilton both of Buford, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Delaney Lea Hilton, Summer Gooden, Olivia Gooden, Cooper Gooden, Ryleigh Hilton, and Jackson Hilton; a daughter-in-law, Janette Hilton. She was preceded by her husband, Gerald F. Hilton, Sr.; her son, Paul Brian Hilton, and a brother, Andrew Thome CFA.

Services for Jowell Thome Hilton will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
