JOSEPH WILLIAM “BILL” WEEKS, 86, of Valdosta died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at his home. He was born on September 2, 1918 in Winfield, Alabama to the late Otis and Elizabeth Phillips Weeks and had lived in Lowndes County since 1986. Mr. Weeks was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of America’s Ex Prisoners of War and a life member of the D. A. V. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech with an Engineering Degree and retired after fifty years from Norfolk Southern Railway as a Track Supervisor. Mr. Weeks was a Mason and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Beth Hall Wright Weeks of Valdosta, his children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Jack Kelly of Jefferson, GA., Michael Weeks of Buford, GA., Nancy and Malcolm Rhodes of Ft. Myers, Fla., Beth and Jerry Carter of Echols County, 9-grandchildren, 8-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Wright and a sister, Gerry Bacon.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 13, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Wayfare Cemetery.
