Joseph Walter Luke, Sr.

Joseph Walter Luke, Sr., 75, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Lowndes County on December 23, 1944 to the late Clarence Claude Luke and Betty Joyce Swann Luke. He was a retired lineman with BellSouth. He attended Clyattville Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading the Bible, collecting coins and bird watching.
Mr. Luke is survived by his wife Sue Christine Griffin Luke, of Valdosta; his children Joseph Walter Luke, Jr. and Sue Ellen (Jared) Tanner, both of Valdosta; his two granddaughters Rebekah Tanner and Brittanee Tanner, both of Valdosta; three brothers Lloyd Luke, Colin (Diane) Luke, and Alfred (Diane) Luke, all of Valdosta; three sisters Martha (Alton) Brooks, of Valdosta, Claudia (John) Golden, of Hahira, and Joyce (Jim) Blanton, of Macon; a special cousin Evelyn Box, of Jacksonville, FL; a sister in law and brother in law Evelyn and Jimmy Weaver, of Valdosta; brother in law and sister in law Don and Carol Griffin, of Valdosta; brother in law Jack Griffin, of Valdosta; sister in law Diane Luke, of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Calvin Luke, and James Luke.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 11 am at Benevolence Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Stanley Luke officiating.
