Joseph Thomas Haran

Joseph Thomas Haran, 85, of Valdosta died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on August 17, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to the late George and Margaret Clarke Haran and had lived in Maryland for many years before moving to Valdosta one year ago. Mr. Haran attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and retired from the United States Air Force. He served in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star. Mr. Haran loved spending time with his family, telling jokes and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons in law, Elizabeth Haran of Austin, TX, Carol and Tim Meyer of Valdosta, Jeanine Haran and Dean Howes of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Michelle McGinley of Stafford, VA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Zakar, Anne Duncan, Katie Maina, Brian Haran, Sean McGinley; five great grandchildren, Erika Zakar, Noah Zakar, Madeleine Mayer, Catherine Zakar, Chase Maina; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fernande Haran and his daughter, Anne-Marie Haran.
