Joseph Marvin Byrd

Mr. Joseph Marvin Byrd, age 74, of Villa Rica, died Saturday, October 20, 2007, in Haralson County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Byrd was born October 19, 1922, in Lowndes County, the son of the late Joseph Michael and Kathleen Julia Waters Byrd. He worked for a number of years as a Custodian for the Lowndes County School System. Mr. Byrd was a Christian. He lived most of his life in Valdosta before moving to Villa Rica in 2002.

Survivors are his sister-in-law, Harriette Byrd, Villa Rica, niece and nephew, Lynda and Tony Shaw, Villa Rica, nephews, Hugh, Arthur, Chris, Denise and Mary Ann, cousins, Milton Sellars, Raymond Sellars of Valdosta, Louise DeLoach of Hahira; and a host of friends also survive.

In accordance to his wishes, Mr. Byrd was cremated. Graveside committal services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at The Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Naylor.
