Joseph Jernigan, 73, of Lake Park, died at his home on Monday, September 25, 2006. Born in Ocilla, on March 29, 1933, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Frances Jones Jernigan. Mr. Jernigan was employed with Williams Investment and was a member of Loch Laurel Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Ruby Cooley Jernigan of Lake Park; two sons and a daughter in law, Billy Joe and Leanne Jernigan of Salisbury, North Carolina, Thomas Franklin Jernigan of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Rick and Joann Frontera of Jefferson, James and Diane Stephens of Lake Park, nine grandchildren, Chris Jernigan of Flowery Branch, Joey Frontera of Suwannee, Elexis Brewer of Gainesville, Kenny Jernigan of Valdosta, Jennifer Jernigan of Salisbury, North Carolina, Jesica Stephens of Lake Park, Patrick Stephens of Lake Park, Kimberly Jernigan of Salisbury, North Carolina, Coulette Jernigan of Valdosta; two great grandchildren, Grace Frontera of Suwannee, Gage Jernigan of Lake Park; five sisters, Marilyn Shiver, Maydell Wilkerson, Geneva Stuart, Bonnie Armentrout, Linda Ellis; five brothers, Raymond Jernigan, Charles Jernigan, Tommy Jernigan, Gene Jernigan, and Robert Jernigan. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Jernigan and a brother, James Jernigan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Milton Sellars and Reverend James Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. Carson McLane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
