Johnny Mitchell Williams, 85, of Pavo, died at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie on Thursday, January 30, 2025. A native son of Pavo, Thomas County, Georgia, Johnny was born to the late V.C. Williams and Ernestine Baker Williams. He received a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State College, now Valdosta State University, and served in the United States Navy for 6 years attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was a proud veteran, and his military career gave him valuable training opportunities and experience in Navigational Training, Fleet Airborne Electronics, Aerial Mine Warfare and Registered Publications Systems. After his military service, Mr. Williams worked for Levi Strauss for 27 years as a special project engineer.
Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Lela, also of Pavo, children, George Alan and wife Sharon Helton of Barbourville, Kentucky, Dean Williams of Tucson, Arizona, Terry Helton of Flat Lick, Kentucky, nephew, Michael Atkinson of Jacksonville, Florida, grandchildren, Preston Lee Mills of Flat Lick, Kentucky, Misty Ross of North Carolina, Michael Helton of Barbourville, Kentucky, and numerous friends and family. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Alma Jo Williams, and Pawnee Victoria Williams.
Services for Mr. Johnny Mitchell Williams will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Pastor Frank Gupton will officiate. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
