Johnny T. Cooper, 80, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 following a short illness. Born in Nashville, GA., on March 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Dewey Lee Cooper and Mary Lanier. Mr. Cooper was a self-employed owner of an auto paint and body shop. He was a real people person who never met a stranger and was an avid family genealogist and historian. Mr. Cooper loved nature, being outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grands. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Betty Ann Cooper of Valdosta; a son, Tommy Cooper of Valdosta; daughters, Darlene (Michael) Fortunato of Jacksonville, FL., Shawna Lee (Donnie) White of Valdosta; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Bryan) North of Lanier County, Corey Clarkston of Jacksonville, FL., Kristen (Joshua) Carter of Leesburg, Kaylee White and Kyle White of Valdosta; greatgrandchildren, Ansleigh, Caleb, Ethan, and Eli North of Lanier County; a brother, Junior Cooper of Nashville; sisters, Jo Sanders of Valdosta, Doris Booth of Ray City, Joyce Booth of Nashville. Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Ruby Cooper and a brother, James Cooper.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County.
