Johnny Robert West, 62, of Ray City passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 29, 1950 in Norman Park to the late Wilbur and Larue Jordan West and had lived in this area most of his life. Mr. West was a member of the Ray City First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, loved to fish and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Sandy) West of Ray City, his son, Johnny Robert (Bobby) West, Jr. of Versales, IN., daughter and son in law, Stephanie West Morgan and Steven Morgan of Mobile, AL, Stephen and Margaret West of Mobile, AL, stepdaughter, Sandi Douglas of Ocilla, GA, grandchildren, Patricia West, Marissa West, Aiden Morgan, Kerigan West, Hunter West, Ellis Douglas and Savana Douglas, four brothers and three sisters in law, Gerald and Susie West of Orlando, FL, Ralph West of Suffolk, VA, Tommy and Regina West of Adel, GA, David and Penny West of Hahira, GA, three sisters and two brothers in law, Dona West Phillips and Edwin Phillips of Ft. Mills, SC, Diane West Sawyer of Brunswick, GA, Karen West Williams and David Williams of Hahira, GA, special aunt and uncle, Elaine and Jack Ellington of Clayton, GA, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Byron West and Kenneth West.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Ray City First Baptist Church, 504 Pauline Avenue, Ray City, GA 31645 with Rev. Robbie Peay officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Beaver Dam Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home, 401 S. Church St., Hahira, GA 31632.
