Johnny Alton (Beetle) Bailey

JOHNNY ALTON (BEETLE) BAILEY, 75, of Lake Park died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on November 20, 1932 in Berrien County to the late Billy and Pearl Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and a retired engineer with Southern Railway. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea and was a member of the AMVETS and the American Legion. Mr. Bailey enjoyed fishing and the mountains.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bailey of Lake Park, sons and daughters in law, James Bailey of Jacksonville, Fla., Travis LeGette, Gerald and Katie Smith, Wayne and Faye Smith all of Lake Park, daughters and sons in law, Joyce Ann Bailey, Janice Bailey both of Valdosta, Tammy and Danny Johnson, Debbie and Martin Golden all of Lake Park, 13-grandchildren and 9-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 16, 2008 in the chapel of McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Sandlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery in Echols County. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
