Johnnie M. Smith

Johnnie Miller Smith, 80, of Valdosta died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on January 26, 1937 in Monticello, Florida to the late Andrew James and Johnnie Rollins Miller. Mrs. Smith was a twenty year military wife and homemaker who raised five children while her husband served in the United States Air Force. She was known for her hospitality, cooking, loved baking, making jelly and quilting.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Hardy Smith, Jr. of Columbus, MS, Faye and Bobby Peterson of Oxnard, Calif., Chris and Wendell Rentz of Columbus, GA, Richard and Lyn Smith of Albany, GA, Tammy and Johnny Harrelson of Valdosta; eight grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and Russell Stewart of Texas, Wendy and Chuck Silverthorn of Columbus, GA, Eric and Megan Smith of Ray City, GA, Ashley and Jimy Seward of Cantonment, FL, Jason and Paige Smith of Valdosta, GA, Rikki and Trish Grady Smith of Leesburg, GA, Drew Harrelson, Courtney Harrelson both of Valdosta; 10-great grandchildren; three sisters, Alma Barnes, Nancy and Herby Webster, Suzie Harvey; one brother, Butch and Bernice Miller; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Hardy Smith, Sr., two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10am, Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Egleston's Childrens Hospital, 1405 Clifton Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30322.
