John Winston Donahue, 93, of Valdosta died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Fellowship Home. He was born on January 22, 1920 in Valdosta to the late Edward Ewell and Annie Lee Fletcher Donahue. Mr. Donahue was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Pacific, Guada Canal and the Philippines during World War II. He was retired supervisor with Langdale Company after thirty years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gardening.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Anita Sinnott of Valdosta, John Winston, Jr. and Nedra Donahue of Louisiana, Patricia Fitzgerald and the late Dr. Lawrence Fitzgerald, Donna and Vince Hagerty all of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Doug Thompson, Fred Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, John W. Donahue, III, Lezlie Donahue, John W. Napier, James Napier, Jr., Nicole Marie Sinnott and Alexander John Sinnott, his sister and brother in law, Laura and Amos McCall of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Donahue, two daughters, Sylvia Napier and Doris Thompson and two brothers, Ralph Donahue and Harold Donahue.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
