John Walton Coleman

John Walton Coleman, age 77, a resident of Valdosta, Georgia, died on October 6, 2023, while a patient at South Georgia Medical Center. John was the son of Meta Shaw Coleman and Theo Wade Coleman. John graduated from Valdosta High School and the University of Georgia, where he was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Order. He attended Mercer University Law School for a short time, married, and moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he joined Atlantic National Bank as a commercial loan officer. He later worked as a commercial real estate broker in Jacksonville and Valdosta. He was a Methodist and a member of the Friar’s Club, Seminole Club and Ponte Vedra Club. He is survived by his four brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan and Carolyn Coleman, Wade and Geri Coleman, Stephen and Kay Coleman and Richard and Robin Coleman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

A graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta at 4:00pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 where John will be buried next to his mother and father.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Turner Arts Center designated for the Meta Shaw Coleman Imagination Station.
