JOHN THOMAS BELFLOWER, 69, of Valdosta died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 12, 1936 in Fort Valley to the late Mathew Oliver and Margaret Bessie Teece Belflower and had lived in Valdosta since 1958. Mr. Belflower was a graduate of the University of Georgia Pharmacy School and a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He was a pharmacist for thirty five years and owned and operated Belflower Pharmacy in Valdosta. Mr. Belflower had worked in the processing department at South Georgia Regional Library for over ten years. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club and a member of the Elks Club. Mr. Belflower was a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Fellowship Class.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Belflower of Valdosta, one daughter and son in law, Sandra and Bob DeCesare of Valdosta, three sons and daughters in law, Tommy and Janet Belflower of Hahira, Russ Belflower of Dahlonega, GA., Chad and Lori Belflower of Valdosta, his grandchildren, Bobby DeCesare, Blake DeCesare, Colby DeCesare all of Valdosta, Lauren Belflower , John Lucus Belflower both of Valdosta and Callie Belflower of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Belflower.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 19, 2006 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Rikard and Rev. Lance Kindred officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive on Saturday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
