John T. Holcombe, Jr.

John T. Holcombe, Jr., 53, of Valdosta passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011 after a lengthy illness. John was born October 23, 1957 to John, Sr. and Ximena Redmond Holcombe. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Valdosta, was a loving father, son and brother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. John attended Valdosta City Schools where he was very active in the baseball and football programs. He later graduated from Valdosta State University. John had a twenty eight year career in the commercial lending field with extensive experience in consumer and commercial lending. He also had significant experience with the Small Business Administration and Rural Development government loan programs.

John is survived by his son, John T. Holcombe, III of Valdosta, parents, John T., Sr. and Ximena Redmond Holcombe, brother and sister in law, Rick and Kim Holcombe, nephew, Daniel Holcombe, all of Valdosta, aunt, Jeanette Redmond of Pelham, GA, cousins, Andy Redmond, Jackie Redmond Smith and Dickie Redmond, all of Pelham, GA, Tom and Laura Hood Deaver of Terra Haute, IN, Betty Holcombe of Valdosta, Allan and Deborah Holcombe Nagy of Valdosta, Glenn and Mary Holcombe of Orange Park, FL, Jed and Ginger Holcombe Dees of Savannah, a special friend, Rhonda Storey of Adel and many lifetime friends with whom he had cherished memories. He is preceded in death by his gradparents, Lester and Opie Holcombe of Valdosta and Richard and Kathleen Redmond of Pelham, uncle, James Redmond of Pelham, aunt, Carolyn Holcombe Hood and uncle, Homer Hood of Panama City, FL.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, 2011 at two p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Phil West and Reverend Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from four until six p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
