John Rowland Brownlee, Jr.

JOHN ROWLAND BROWNLEE, JR., 76, of Valdosta died Friday, February 1, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 27, 1931 in Shamrock, Florida to the late John Rowland, Jr. and Gussie Baughman Brownlee and had lived in Valdosta most of his life. He was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Brownlee, two daughters and sons in law, Lavonne and Dale Powell, Sandra and Dale Bostwick all of Valdosta, grandchildren, Stephanie Powell of Macon, Julie (Chad) Rischar of Keystone Heights, Fla., Justin Powell of Valdosta, Ken Lawlor and his fiance' Rachel Moss of Valdosta, Sarah (Patrick) Knapp of Houston, TX., great grandchild, Aiden Knapp of Houston, TX., brother and sister in law, Jackson and Diane Brownlee of Orlando, Fla., brother, Jerome Brownlee of South Florida, sister and brother in law, Karen and Keith McCulloch of Tallahassee, Fla., numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Bryan Jarvis, Evangelist Evans McMullen and Mr. J. C. McMullen officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
