John M. Nitschke, Sr., 76, of Valdosta died Monday, October 11, 2010 at his home. He was born in Valdosta on October 5, 1934 to the late John Henry and Jessie Harnage Nitschke and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Nitschke was a member of the Northside Baptist Church and retired from Bell South after thirty two years of service as a cable repair technician. He was a member of the Valdosta Touchdown Club, former member of the Civitan Club, an avid fisherman, owned and operated John's E-Z Lawn Service.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Tindall Nitschke, two daughters and sons in law, Tammy and Gary Leff, Derrith and Doug McQuaig, son and daughter in law, John M., Jr. and Traci Nitschke, grandchildren, Sarah Leff, Taylor McQuaig, Spencer McQuaig, Claire McQuaig, Maeley Elizabeth Nitschke and Mary Kathryn Nitschke all of Valdosta, two sisters, Gail Doyle and Shirley Gioia both of Valdosta, two brothers and a sister in law, R. B. and Loucille Nitschke of Valdosta, Michael Nitschke of Lakeland, GA., special aunt, Lona Everett, special friends and neighbors, John and Charlotte Daniels all of Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
