John Hugh Stalvey, 80, of Hahira passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, following a lengthy illness. He was born on November 19, 1942, in Cook County to the late John Marvin and Laura Mae Stalvey. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Stalvey was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mr. Stalvey was a member of the Hahira Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Stalvey loved God and his family and friends with his whole heart. We know he is rejoicing with our Lord, and we find comfort in his salvation. Praising the Lord!
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Tommy Wyatt of Moultrie, Cindy and Lenn Harnage of Hahira, Cassie and Lee Hendricks of Bossier City, Louisiana; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Allison Stalvey of Hapeville and Jim and Amy Stalvey of Ochlocknee; grandchildren, Jessica and James LeFiles, Ryan Wyatt, Gavin Hendricks and fiancée Julieanne Reynolds, Kristen Hendricks, Hannah Harnage, Carter Hendricks, Abby Stalvey, and Taylor Stalvey; great-grandchildren, Ryan LeFiles, Emily LeFiles and Jackson LeFiles; a sister, Lorene Bass of Valparaiso, Fl., sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Geri and Jim Hammond; his beloved dog and companion, Foxy; and special cousins, Alan Wetherington and Earlyne Hosey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Wetherington Stalvey, grandsons Hunter Kye Hendricks and Collin Bryce Harnage, a nephew, Tony Millirons, and a niece, Pam Crockett.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 27th, at 11:00 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Ike Jefferson officiating. The burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers appreciated; however, the family prefers donations be made to Fellowship Baptist Church in his honor.
