John Moore Hightower, 86, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at his home. He was born on August 12, 1937, in Thomasville, GA, to the late C.S. Hightower and Lillie Moore Hightower. John dedicated his service to the National Guard and was a valued employee of Waller Heating and Air for 56 years. He loved his family and his church, Morningside Baptist Church. He also loved being outdoors and growing camellias and fruit trees.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Frances Hightower, of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and John Bryant of Lee County, GA; daughter, Kelley Hightower, of Ringgold, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Ashley and Tiffany Hightower, of Hickory, NC; his grandchildren, Jackson, Taylor, Kate, and Riley Hightower, all of Hickory, NC; and his sister, Ruth Hightower Smith (George) of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Hightower, and his siblings, Anna Pearl Nell, Ida Lou Carter, Catherine Cowart, B.S. Hightower, Edward Hightower, Clyde Moore, and Aline Voltz.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday, June 3, 2024 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5pm at the funeral home.
