John Fletcher, Sr.

March 16, 1918 — January 28, 2010

John Fletcher, Sr., 91, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Crestwood Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born on March 16, 1918 in Lowndes County, he was the son of the late Frank and Minnie Lee Regan Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher worked as a welder at Valdosta Machinery for 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II. Mr. Fletcher was of the Church of God faith.

He is survived by his wife, Margueritte Fletcher of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Bobby Dan Tomlinson, Donna and Jimmy Martin, all of Valdosta, Janet and Buddy Register of Cobb Town, Sheldia Sessions of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, John Fletcher, Jr. of Valdosta; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Nettie Mae McLeod of Valdosta, Alma and Bill Carson of Maryland, Lois Arnold of Riverdale, CA. Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Graveside services were held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with military honors and Rev. Maxine Martin officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com Carson McLane Funeral Home.
