John Edward (Pee Wee) Thompson, Sr., 63 of Valdosta, died on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born on July 29, 1941 in Lowndes County, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward, Sr. and Jewell Lightsey Thompson. He retired from the maintenance department at Wild Adventures and was a member of Rosedale Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Yarbrough Thompson of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Vincent Towns of Oglethorpe; son and daughter-in-law, John and Tonya Thompson of Berlin; three grandchildren, Amber (John) Griffis of Valdosta, Vincent Towns, Jr. of Oglethorpe, Chelsea Bess Thompson of Berlin; two great grandchildren, Dakoda and Nicklos Griffis of Valdosta; three special little girls, Ashley, Karen and Kiona; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sarah and Peonard Terry of Valdosta, Louise and Lucious Barnes of Homerville, Barbara and James Hall of Valdosta, Wanda Simpson of Valdosta; a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence, Jr. and Judy Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2005 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor James Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
