John E. Hendricks

John E. Hendricks, 88, of Valdosta died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 25, 1920 in Camden, Arkansas to the late John L. and Matilda Owens Hendricks and had lived in Valdosta since 1950. Mr. Hendricks was a member of the Grace Baptist Church and retired from Owens-Illinois after twenty nine years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Nadine Barron Hendricks of Valdosta, one son and daughter in law, Ernest L. and Gail Hendricks of Cherry Lake, Fla., one daughter and son in law, Jerry and Rev. Herman Gauthier of Ponchatoula, LA., 10-grandchildren, 23-great grandchildren and 2-great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sons, John E. Hendricks, Jr. and Joseph B. Hendricks, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with his son in law, the Rev. Herman Gauthier officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
