John E. Cookson

John E. Cookson, 88, of Valdosta, died at Fellowship Home on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Born on January 25, 1928, in Ashington, Northumberland County, England, he was the son of the late William and Alice Rettison Cookson. Mr. Cookson was a lawyer and been employed with National Cash Register Company. He was a Colonel in the Royal Scots Regiment of England and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Valdosta.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Hilda Joyner Cookson of Valdosta; daughter in law, Elizabeth Cookson of Ricksmanworth, England, grandsons, Steven Cookson and Andrew Cookson of Rickmansworth, England. He was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Cookson.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church. Dr. Bob Moon will officiate.
