John Calvin Dennis

John Calvin Dennis, 55, of Valdosta died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at home after a short illness. He was born in Hahira on July 17, 1956 to the late Gene D. and Odessa Pearlie Mae Moore Dennis and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Dennis was a Baptist and employed by Morris Properties. He enjoyed playing the drums, camping and travelling. Mr. Dennis loved spending time with family, friends and helping people. He loved to tell jokes and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Dennis of Valdosta, his children and their spouses, Heather and Sean Scoggins of Commerce, GA., Eric and Michelle Dennis of Murfreesboro, TN., Aundrea Curry of Valdosta, Margaret and Brad Johnson of Hahira, seven grandchildren, Ryan Scoggins, Caitlyn Scoggins, Macayla Dennis, Alyssa Dennis, Breanna Dennis, Dustin Curry and Daniel Johnson, four step grandchildren, Tabitha Lister, Shaun Lister, Sarah Lister and Caitlin Lister, brother and sister in law, Rick and Donna Dennis of Winder, GA., two sisters and brothers in law, Gloria and Thom Howard of Murfressboro, TN., Rhonda and Averitt Walker of Lehigh Acres, Fla. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Dennis.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Mr. Dennis will be cremated following the visitation and no formal services will be held.
