John C. (Jay) Hingson, III, 71, of Valdosta died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on May 1, 1948 in Valdosta to the late John C., Jr. and Alma DeLoach Hingson and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mr. Hingson was a retired Supervisor/POS Trainer with the United States Postal Service and a member of the Azalea Masonic Lodge. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, cooking and hanging out with his poker buddies. Prior to Jay’s military service he was the manager of Burger Chef and a veteran of the United States Marines having served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Anderson of Lake Park; his grandchildren, John Anderson, Emily Anderson; two sisters, Janice Bullard of Hahira, Shelia Hingson of Lake Park; his nephews, David and Tanya Bullard of Tucson, AZ, Christopher and Haley Bullard of Hahira; his niece, Elli Bullard of Hahira; his great nieces and nephews, Little David Bullard, Miranda Bullard, Jaycee Bullard, Abby Bullard; his aunts and uncles, Faye DeLoach Lancaster of Eatonton, GA, Ramona DeLoach of Lee, FL, Don Ross McAfee of Fayetteville, GA, Joe Smith of Valdosta; numerous cousins and his companion dog, Gunny. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ollie J. and Estelle Cowart DeLoach, aunts and uncles, Dorothy DeLoach Smith, Lyndia DeLoach McAfee, Ralph Lancaster, Nelson DeLoach and cousins, Allen DeLoach, Kenny McAfee.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Friday, June 14, 2019 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will follow at Wayfare Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11am until 1pm at the funeral home.
