John Allen Tinsley, 95, of Valdosta, died Monday, March 16, 2020 at South GA Medical Center. He was born in Pelham, Mitchell County, GA on July 23, 1924 to the late Edwin Carroll Tinsley and Minnie Coram Tinsley. Mr. John Allen Tinsley was retired from NASA and Valdosta State College. He served in the Army Air Corp and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mr. Tinsley was a positive and people person; he never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and crossword puzzles. Mr. Tinsley was a red coat volunteer at SGMC, a Gideon, a hospice volunteer, a Mason and Shriner and ordained minister.
He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Buddy and Sharon Tinsley of Melbourne, FL, daughter and son in law, Cathy and Steve Pannell of Beaumont, TX, daughter in law, Ruby Wilson of Americus, nephews and nieces, Danny and Debi Tinsley, Donnie Tinsley, Brandon and Julie Tinsley, great nieces, Debra Dell Tinsley-Powell, all of Valdosta, Brian and April Simpson of Cartersville, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Tinsley is predeceased by his wife, Mary Alice, parents, son, Stephen (Scotty) Tinsley, grandson, Stephen (Scotty) Tinsley, Jr., step son, Jim Wilson, nephew, Kim Tinsley and all of his siblings.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 20, 2020 at noon at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Ernie Jones will officiate and masonic rites will be performed. Entombment will follow.
